Damage Detection System

SENSOR DDS® LMS is the basic version of the FIXED system and in common with all our FIXED system variants, utilises a grid of sensors which are installed below a non-electrically conductive geomembrane.

Once covered there is no further access to the installed components which are covered by a 30 year warranty backed by our BAM Certificate (from the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, Germany) that confirms a minimum life expectancy for this thirty year period, in reality you can expect the buried system components to have a lifespan of at least triple this duration.

The sensors are arranged in either a regular or irregular grid pattern and usually spaced at between 8x8m to 3x3m grid spacing depending on site conditions and client's requirements in terms of output resolution. The general rule is that denser the grid, the more accurately the damage can be positioned.

The sensors are non-metal made from specially developed conductive polyethylene (HDPE) with specific electrical parameters that allows us to monitor distribution of current flow below the geomembrane.

The SENSOR DDS® LMS is predominantly an offline system which means that the integrity of the geomembrane must be tested intermittently by a trained technician directly on site. Any defects are detected, located and exposed for repair by the geomembrane installer.

After initial installation the integrity of the geomembrane can be checked at will or in regular intervals and certificates of the integrity can be issued after each test.

Sensor conceived this concept and was the first company to develop and install a permanent fixed electronic leak detection system now over 23 years old.

  • Can be installed in association with any type of (non-conductive) liner / moisture barrier
  • Quick on-site measurement process
  • Measurement process quicker than by Sensor DDS® Mobile
  • Not limited by depth, or type of covering
  • Can be installed to test liners beneath non-electrically conductive coverings
  • Rule out liner integrity as the cause of any contaminant transfer
